Thermacell Repellents designs spatial mosquito repellers for use in various outdoor environments. The repellers heat a chemical repellent causing it to disperse, resulting in a mosquito-free zone. Over time, these repellers are exposed to wear and tear including being dropped, knocked over, and hit accidentally. During my co-op at this company, I was tasked with designing a custom fixture to recreate common impact forces that a repeller would be exposed to. The reference force I used was a device being struck by a soccer ball.
Insulet Corporation manufactures the Omnipod, a tubeless insulin delivery system for people with diabetes. I worked as a Mechanical Design Co-op on the Global Equipment Engineering (GEE) team, supporting manufacturing operations across multiple production lines. My work ranged from designing custom fixtures and tooling to thermal simulation and facility-level storage planning.
As part of my advanced materials engineering coursework (ME5600), I co-authored an academic paper investigating spark plasma sintering (SPS) as a fabrication route for ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) used in gas turbine applications.
Modeled 2D flow over the main wing and horizontal stabilizer of a Cessna 172-S at cruise conditions using ANSYS Fluent, observing how main wing downwash affects lift and drag on the horizontal stabilizer across multiple angles of attack.
This project involved solving Laplace's equation for incompressible, irrotational flow through an L-shaped duct with a notch removed from the bottom-left corner
For my Cornerstone engineering project, I worked on a team of four to design and build a portable museum exhibit that teaches elementary school students how geothermal energy works.
